L.A. Pai Gallery presents Kye-Yeon Son, A Retrospe​ctive Jewellery Exhibition​.​ May 5​ to 25​.

Meet the artist 5 to 7 p.m.​on​ May 5th ​at L. A. Pai Gallery, 13 Murray Street, Byward Market.

“From her earliest vessels that suggest waiting, and the tentative wading into life, through her wishing stones, designed to reassure through nostalgia and serenity, to the more abstracted branch forms, Kye-Yeon speaks of and to the rhythms of life.“ - Sandra Alfoldy.

Born in South Korea, Kye-Yeon Son earned a BFA at Seoul National University and an MFA in Jewellery Design and Silversmithing at Indiana University. Son has been an influential teacher at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design since 1995. Kye-Yeon is a recipient of the Saidye Bronfman/Governor General’s Award (2011) and a Member of the Royal Academy of Arts (2000).

The same weekend, a retrospective of Son's sculpture, Vasa Sensum, opens at the Korean Cultural Centre, 150 Elgin Street, on Thursday, May 4, beginning with an Artist's Talk at 5:30 pm.

L.A. Pai Gallery hours are Sunday 12-5, Mon-Fri 10-6, and Saturday 10-5.
