Announcing the 2018 Ottawa Arts Council Award Finalists

The finalists for the RBC Emerging Artist Award and Ottawa Arts Council Mid-Career Artist Award were announced at an intimate reception at Arts Court on April 25th, 2018.

The Ottawa Arts Council Mid-Career Artist Award was established ten years ago to provide support and encourage artists who have advanced beyond the emerging stage of their careers. This award is sponsored by GGFL Chartered Professional Accountants, and Mann Lawyers, LLP.

The Ottawa Arts Council Mid-Career Artist Award finalists are:

  • Natasha Bakht
  • Margaret Chwialkowska
  • Pixie Cram

The RBC Emerging Artist Award was established to encourage the achievements of Ottawa artists who are founding careers in the arts, and are working towards becoming recognized professional artists while engaging with the community. RBC Royal Bank is the title sponsor of this award.

This year’s RBC Emerging Artist Award finalists are:

  • Whitney Lewis-Smith
  • Anna Williams

Since 1988 the Ottawa Arts Council has awarded more than $250,000 to exceptional artists and to those who have shown outstanding commitment to the arts in Ottawa.

The awards recipients will be announced at the Arts Awards Presentation on Tuesday, May 29th in the Arts Court Theatre. The recipient in each category will be awarded $5,000 and the finalists will each receive $1,000.
