2016 Recipient of the Business and the Arts Recognition Award

The Ottawa Arts Council’s Business and the Arts Recognition Award was presented to Jeff Stewart of pressed. This Recognition Award was established in 1994 as a way to acknowledge the importance of the participation of local businesses and professionals who have supported the arts in Ottawa. Through this program we have recognized contributions from small businesses and national corporations whose support has had a significant impact on the success of artists and arts groups in Ottawa.

Pressed is a small café that has a big impact in the Ottawa arts community. On Gladstone Ave. just east of Preston, Jeff Stewart has grown a space that showcases bands, has one of Ottawa’s few Zine racks and also features and sells local albums. There are almost nightly events that include jazz, comedy, poetry, songwriter & photography. Pressed is working at a ground level, actively engaging with, and responding to the needs of the arts community.
