Do you want to subscribe to unique artistic experiences?  We recently sat down with Megan Piercey Monafu, Founder of Community Supported Art Ottawa to find out more about this new approach to supporting local artists.

CSArt is modeled after the idea of community-supported agriculture. If you’ve ever received a basket of veggies directly from a local farmer, you’re already familiar with the concept. With CSArt, artists not only get the assurance that they will have a certain number of participants at the beginning of the season but they are able to develop an accessible relationship with their audience. This model has proven to be successful in multiple places including, Hamilton, Montreal and various cities across the US.

Essentially, after acquiring a subscription at the beginning of the season (in the summer), a member has access to five different artistic experiences. It’s not necessarily about getting a piece of art by the end of an event or simply enjoying a show; it’s about being invited into the artists’ creative process.

The full season is:CSArt Season

The PepTides- Oblivious Humans - October 17-23, 2016

THUNK! Theatre – 30/50 - November 21-26, 2016

What’s great about the subscriptions is they are designed so that you only need one per household.  A subscription can also be an excellent gift for art-loving  newlyweds or friends.
