On View: The Flava Factory

Popping, breaking, hip hop, and house -- come see three of Ottawa's most talented urban dancers perform their styles, ending with a cypher. The Ottawa Arts Council's On View is showcasing the Flava Factory, Ottawa's only studio dedicated to promoting urban dance styles.

Featuring the dancing of Christian "Cee" Ancheta, Vanessa "VLove" Lovell, and Armel Mzalina, the evening will highlight different urban dance styles presented by the experts. After the performances, stay for a panel with The Flava Factory to learn more about these styles, the respect due to the urban dance tradition and history, and the power of this method of self-expression.

Established in 2011, The Flava Factory's goal is to provide experiences for emerging dancers in Ottawa to learn about the foundation, history, and proper technique of each of these dances. The studio prides itself on its artistic integrity, and aims to provide each dancer with the tools and techniques they need to develop their own style and character, while understanding the history and culture that comes along with each unique expression.
