Colin White

….In 2010, after freelancing as an illustrator and graphic designer for a few years, Colin began an artistic series documenting corner stores in Ottawa’s neighbourhoods. In 2014 the originals were displayed at the Ottawa Art Gallery for a month long solo exhibit. In 2015 he organized a group of established artists to explore and make art in alleyways across the city, culminating in a group exhibit in an alleyway entitled Forgotten Spaces. A short documentary was made about this project. ..En 2010, après avoir travaillé comme illustrateur et graphiste indépendant pendant quelques années, Colin a commencé une série artistique documentant les dépanneurs des quartiers d'Ottawa. En 2014, les originaux ont été exposés à la Galerie d'art d'Ottawa dans le cadre d'une exposition solo d'un mois. En 2015, il a organisé un groupe d'artistes établis pour explorer et créer des œuvres d'art dans les ruelles de la ville. Une exposition de groupe dans une ruelle intitulée Forgotten Spaces (Espaces oubliés) en est le point culminant. Ce projet a fait l'objet d'un court documentaire. ….

….In 2016 Colin co-founded the Ottawa Urban Sketchers chapter, organizing regular meet-ups for people interested in sketching and exploring the city. In 2017 he started a series focusing on his neighbourhood of Chinatown, illustrating over thirty buildings along the commercial strip. In December 2018 he exhibited a solo series entitled Hello / Goodbye Chinatown. ..En 2016, Colin a cofondé le chapitre d'Ottawa Urban Sketchers, qui organise des rencontres régulières pour les personnes intéressées par le croquis et l'exploration de la ville. En 2017, il a a commencé une série axée sur son quartier de Chinatown, illustrant plus de trente bâtiments le long de la bande commerciale. En décembre 2018, il a exposé en solo une série intitulée Hello / Goodbye Chinatown. ….

….Four of Colin's pieces have been purchased by the City of Ottawa's direct purchase program. In the summer of 2018, Colin displayed four prints from my Vacant Ottawa series at the OAG Galerie Annex as part of a group show entitled Collective Record. Since 2020, Colin has been documenting the pandemic through sketches. ..Quatre des œuvres de Colin ont été achetées par le programme d'achat direct de la ville d'Ottawa. Au cours de l'été 2018, Colin a exposé quatre impressions de sa série Vacant Ottawa.
