….Since 1988, we’ve awarded more than $400,000 to over 200 people in recognition of artistic excellence and their contribution to the cultural vibrancy in our city, and thousands more in remunerating contracted artists. ….When the community shared it needed the tools and resources to grow and thrive in an ever-changing climate, we responded by creating professional development opportunities that would address the gaps and assist in our artists in achieving success. Since our inception, and more recently in partnership with arts organizations locally and nationally, we’ve programmed hundreds of workshops, seminars and conferences for artists and arts organizations in the region. ..Lorsque la communauté a eu besoin d’outils et de ressources pour se développer et prospérer dans un climat en constante évolution, nous avons réagi. The citizenry needs someone seeking ways to the arts in City planning and to help promote a vibrant arts culture in the City. ..Les artistes ont besoin d’un représentant indépendant pour défendre leurs intérêts et faire reconnaître leur contribution à la ville. Les citoyens ont besoin de quelqu’un qui cherche des moyens d’intégrer les arts dans la planification de la ville et qui aide à y promouvoir une culture artistique vivante. ….

….(The Ottawa Arts Council is…) a hub for cultural discussion (e.g. networking, meetings), a support for artists and arts organizations (e.g. training), a beacon for the arts in Ottawa (prizes), an advocate for the arts (e.g. presentations to the city council), a link to the provincial and national arts scenes (involvement in provincial arts organizations and meetings, involvement with CHRC), research (studies on arts impact in the city)… Leadership on behalf of the arts through all the above! ..[Le Conseil des arts d’Ottawa constitue…] une plaque tournante pour les discussions culturelles (comme le réseautage, les réunions), un soutien aux artistes et aux organisations artistiques (comme la formation), un phare pour les arts à Ottawa (les prix), un défenseur des arts (comme les présentations au conseil municipal), un lien avec les scènes artistiques provinciales et nationales (participation aux organisations artistiques provinciales et aux réunions, participation au CRHSC), la recherche (études sur l’impact des arts dans la ville)… Et à travers tout cela, mettons les arts à l’avant-plan! ….
