….Aedan Corey has been practising traditional Inuit tattooing for 2 years now. Prior to learning the practice, they had received their own tattoos, and for this reason they knew the role they played in healing from trauma that is often older than the individual themself. Being raised as an Inuk within their community, it is difficult to deny the importance of individual healing in the process of healing as a collective. Corey believes the reclamation of cultural practices such as tattooing is a step towards this individual healing. They often practise cultural reclamation within their other artistic endeavours as well, such as language revitalization within writing. ..Aedan Corey pratique le tatouage traditionnel inuit depuis 2 ans maintenant. Avant d'apprendre cette pratique, iel avait reçu ses propres tatouages, et pour cette raison, iel connaissait le rôle qu'iel jouait dans la guérison de traumatismes souvent plus anciens que l'individu lui-même. Ayant été élevé en tant qu'Inuk au sein de leur communauté, il est difficile de nier l'importance de la guérison individuelle dans le processus de guérison collective. Corey croit que la récupération de pratiques culturelles telles que le tatouage est un pas vers cette guérison individuelle. Iel pratique souvent la récupération culturelle dans le cadre de ses autres activités artistiques, comme la revitalisation de la langue dans l'écriture. ….

….Born in Halifax and raised in Ottawa from the age of 10, Jordan David currently works as a Musician, DJ, producer, and community engagement producer through his artist collective MUSIC.ART.PPL. Having developed a unique sound, style and connection to the groove over many years of performing in DIY spaces, nightclubs, galleries and festival stages both as a musician and as a DJ, Jordan released his first EP Be What You Wanna Be in 2021. Jordan has proven himself to be a force in the Ottawa arts scene through his volunteer work, radio show on CKCU and his lustrous dance sounds. ..Né à Halifax et élevé à Ottawa depuis l’âge de 10 ans, Jordan David travaille actuellement en tant que musicien, DJ, producteur et producteur d'engagement communautaire par le biais de son collectif d'artistes MUSIC.ART.PPL. Laurena Finéus
….Laurena Finéus is a Haitian visual artist, educator and art administrator specialising in painting. She was born and raised in Gatineau, Québec, and is currently based between Ottawa and Toronto, Ontario. In her practice, Finéus has been concerned with representations of Haiti, relationality within its diaspora, and its growing archives across the globe through an array of figurative and painterly imagined landscapes. These elements are juxtaposed with personal memories of her life in so-called Canada. Finéus' strategies include the collapsing of history in order to question history production and its mechanisms. The teachings of Haitian scholar Michel Rolph-Trouillot in Silencing the Past (1995) informs her understanding of visual narration in her practice. ..Laurena Finéus est une artiste visuelle, éducatrice et administratrice d'art haïtienne spécialisée dans la peinture. Elle est née et a grandi à Gatineau, au Québec, et vit actuellement entre Ottawa et Toronto, en Ontario. Dans sa pratique, Finéus s'intéresse aux représentations d'Haïti, à la relationnalité au sein de sa diaspora et à ses archives croissantes à travers le monde par le biais d'un éventail de paysages imaginaires figuratifs et picturaux.
