Building Back Better: English and French Theatre Community Consultations Webinar
How do we better collaborate to connect the English and French Theatre community to best advocate for long-term sustainability in the sector? In what ways can we gain insight into the organizational challenges local theatres face? How can we better champion our local talent pool to encourage local theatre artists to stay?
Collaboration, validation and the sharing of insights are a start.
The Ottawa Arts Council is pleased to host a free webinar inviting Theatre Practitioner Thalia Paterson to share the results of her study on the specific dynamics of English-language theatre in Ottawa. The webinar will offer insight into the research and methodology she has developed in her thesis outlining the strengths and weaknesses in the sector, entitled: The Local-National Hybrid Showcase Scorecard: A Methodology for Evaluating the Hybrid (Local and National) Showcase Identities of Ottawa-based Professional English-Language Theatre Organizations. While the presentation and thesis are in English, we can translate questions from French to English in the Q&A session.
Join us as we dive deeper into the discussion and share insights into the next steps the Council is supporting to continue the conversation.

About the Speaker: Thalia Paterson
Thalia is an Ottawa-based stage manager and theatre scholar specializing in Ottawa-centric artistic and cultural development, English-language theatre governance and operations, and arts policy. Always looking to expand her horizons, Thalia has also worked as an apprentice arts consultant, freelance grant-writer, theatrical costumer, and data analyst among several other jobs. A lover of all things artistic, Thalia spends most of her free time out and about at local performances, playing (and writing) Dungeons and Dragons campaigns, and sewing silly costumes for her two cats. Having recently graduated, Thalia hopes to immerse herself wholly in Ottawa’s local performing arts community in the coming years and perhaps one day serve the community in a professional capacity.
